FUMIGATION OF WOOD PACKAGING TO CHINA
We have been advised that China will implement the requirements of the International Standard on Phytosanitary Measures (ISPM) no 15, "Guidelines for Regulating Wood Packaging Material in International Trade" from the 1st of January 2006.
This implies that all wood packaging material entering China will have to be treated and marked in accordance with the requirements of the ISPM. China will then also have to comply with the ISPM by ensuring that all wood packaging material being used for export is treated and marked according to the ISPM requirements.
“Wood Packaging material used in supporting, protecting or carrying a commodity includes, inter alia, cases, crating, dunnage, wooden drums, load boards, packing blocks, pallets, pallet collars, and skids excluding plywood, particle board, orientated strand board and veneer.
